“Physis” and “Energeia” are two words widely used
by Aristotle in his lifelong interest in the study of nature.
Physis – nature in evolution and growth, with its own source of motion.
Energeia – the realization of a potential in something and the original word for the modern concept of energy.
Energeia was often used by Aristotle to define the actuality of nature, like nature being at work and realizing its true potential
Aristotle differentiated between potentiality and actuality.
Potentiality being how far, for example, a plant will grow to be, which is when that potential is realized and it has reached its actuality, or its energeia.
The combination of both powerful concepts defines the core of our vision – it is crucial to redefine the relationship between humans and nature.
We must source our energy in harmony with nature, by realizing its true potential and leaving behind fossil fuels.
Sustainable energy comes from nature as its direct expression. Humans have a path to reach harmony with nature and as plants do, we are finally able to directly transform the true power of the sun (through solar radiation, wind & water) into energy for our needs. We are hence evolving from the so called, by Aristotle, potentiality of nature into its actuality.
